Chocolate & Banana Smoothie… the one thing it is, is absolutely delicious! This is my favourite non-dairy smoothie that is loaded in protein and is delicious for anytime of the day. I’m talking for breakfast or mid-afternoon smoothie when the munchies attack! It’s also my favourite post-workout smoothie. I always have all of the ingredients on hand…. which makes it super easy to make! Plus it’s great for children of all ages as well!
Bananas give you more than just extra energy, they improve you mood (think happy foods), protect you against muscle cramps during workouts, they reduce leg cramps (that some little and big kids alike get at night), and they reducing PMS symptoms. Bananas are high in potassium, iron and low in salt. Constipated or Diarrhea??? Yes, bananas can help out in both situations! Bananas are high in antioxidants, help maintain bone health and keep your eyes, brain and body healthy. All you need do to enjoy these benefits and more is to eat 2 Bananas a day! (I know I eat more than 2 a day… know wonder I’m a happy person! 😛)
Those who know me, know that I love my medjool dates! You will always find them in my fridge… I seem to have a never-ending supply of them (much like a squirrel in the winter with nuts). I will eat them as a snack with almond butter, stuffed with almonds, I add them to my smoothies and I make a variety of recipes with them, from energy balls to bases for tarts etc… Medjool dates are soft and squishy-like, and they have so many health benefits too.
Macca powder health benefits include boosting your immune system, maintaining blood pressure, enhancing brain function, boosting bone health, improved skin health and balancing out female hormones functions to name a few. Macca powder also contains a rich source of Vitamins B1, B2, B12, C, and E perfect for people following a vegan and/or plant-based diets. This is why I make sure that this herb is part of my morning routine!
Cinnamon is a powerhouse of goodness. 1 teaspoon is said to have approximately 40% of your daily need of manganese, paired with several other essential nutrients. Like wow!!
Raw Organic Cacao contains 40% more antioxidants than blueberries, it is the highest plant-source of iron, magnesium, and calcium! Cacao is very different from the regular cocoa. Cocoa has been roasted and processed, and therefore destroying most of the health benefits.
I add Almond Butter for an extra bonus of protein, however feel free to use your own favourite nut-butter or protein powder if desired.
This smoothie is made with simple ingredients, easy to make and now you too can enjoy the many health benefits that are packed into my favourite powerful Chocolate and Banana smoothie.
